What We Value
Our Values Include
Join Us in Prayer
We value prayer because we have seen its power. When people pray, situations change, lives are transformed, and people are saved. Through prayer we communicate our requests to God, give thanks to Him, and intercede for those in distress, our church, our community, our nation, and the world at large. We are exhorted to “pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thess. 5:17-18).
Giving
We recognize that everything we have is from God. We owe our very lives to Him. We, therefore, live to honor and to worship Him. One of the ways in which we demonstrate honor and gratitude is by generously giving what He has blessed us with. We support the church and its ministry, we give to the less fortunate, and we give to missions. As we give to the ministry and to others, God promises to meet our needs. “And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:19).
People
We value people over programs. We exist to serve people and so our programs are a vehicle to serve people.
Fellowship
We value fellowship which results in genuine and authentic relationships among members of the body of Christ. We are called to be in fellowship with God and we are called to be in fellowship with one another. Through our various activities and events, we long to see a vibrant Christian community in genuine fellowship. Programs such as the Tuesday Fellowship at A&W, monthly potlucks, and monthly men’s breakfast are all designed to bring closeness among the brethren. “And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” (Acts 2:42)
Service
We are saved to serve. This is to say every person is gifted to serve in the house of God. Each individual is encouraged to find an area in the church where they can volunteer their time, talents, and treasures for the glory of the Lord. Not only do we serve in the church, we also serve our neighbors in the community and everywhere there is an opportunity to serve. “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies-in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen” (1 Peter 4:10-11).
The Gospel
The gospel is the Good News of God’s love to a lost and dying world. God demonstrated His love for us by sending Jesus Christ to die on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. Apart from responding in faith to this ultimate expression of love, there is nothing we can or could ever do to deserve such love. We are committed to sharing this gospel with all people around the world beginning with our own community. This is the reason for our existence. We strive to share the gospel in a simple, practical, and relatable way. These words of Jesus are our rallying call: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20).
